Sector 64: Ambush by Dean M. Cole
Book 1

Ever wonder what would happen to present-day Earth if a friendly alien race took humanity under its wing? What happens when their enemy becomes ours?  X-Files meet  Independence Day when incredible events thrust Air Force Captains Jake Giard and Sandra Fitzpatrick into a decades-long global conspiracy to integrate humanity into a galactic government. However, as Jake finishes indoctrination into the program, it renders present-day Earth a disposable pawn in a galactic civil war. Unknown aliens with a dark secret raid the planet. Within and even below Washington DC, Captain Giard and two wingmen fight through a post-apocalyptic hell, struggling to comprehend the enigmatic aftermath of the first attack. On the West Coast, Sandy’s squadron smashes against the invading aliens. Thrown to ground, Captain Fitzpatrick wades through blazing infernos and demented looters in a desperate attempt to save her family. Finally, with the fate of the world in the balance, both captains must take the battle to the enemy–humanity’s very survival hanging on their success.

I am so blessed to be able to receive books from authors or publishers. I had really no idea how much the book community would really impact my life. I didn’t think that I would have over 100 followers for this tiny blog or over 3000 on my Instagram account. It blows my mind like whoa!!

So I wanted to share with you three of the books I have recently received through the mail. Let me know down below if you have read any of the books!

First up we have:

The Reluctant Sacrifice by Kerr-Ann Dempster

Published on August 7th, 2015

Centuries ago, sibling rivalry tore Aramith apart. As punishment, the losers were stripped of their immortal birthright and banished to Earth. There, they wasted away from old age and diseases. However, there is hope…

If a Shaw child, born on the 12th day of the 12th month offers her soul in a public sacrifice, then the exiles will be forgiven and welcomed home to Aramith.

Aubrey Shaw is that child, but dying for the exiles is not on her to-do list. Using her gift as a Jumper, Aubrey leaps between bodies to escape relentless shape-shifting hunters. Only, shedding her skin is not enough. Not when Joshua, her best-friend-turned-hunter, is hell-bent on dragging her to the altar.

Will Aubrey’s love for Joshua change his mind?

Or, will she have to trust the scarred stranger who shows up out of the blue cloaked in lies and secrets? Doing so means giving up on Joshua. But betting on Joshua’s love could do more than break her heart.

It could kill her.

Next up

I read The Suffering through NetGalley and I had no idea that there was a first book to this duology. It read like a stand alone and I enjoyed it a lot. I have a review up for it. Then I found out about The Girl From The Well and I was like OH I bet that has a lot of backstory on Okiku, duh. So the lovely publisher sent me physical copies of both!!!! Thank you so much!

The Girl from the Well (The Girl from the Well, #1)

The Girl From The Well by Rin Chupeco

Published on May 1st, 2015

You may think me biased, being murdered myself. But my state of being has nothing to do with the curiosity toward my own species, if we can be called such. We do not go gentle, as your poet encourages, into that good night.

A dead girl walks the streets.
She hunts murderers. Child killers, much like the man who threw her body down a well three hundred years ago.
And when a strange boy bearing stranger tattoos moves into the neighborhood so, she discovers, does something else. And soon both will be drawn into the world of eerie doll rituals and dark Shinto exorcisms that will take them from American suburbia to the remote valleys and shrines of Aomori, Japan.
Because the boy has a terrifying secret – one that would just kill to get out.

The Girl from the Well is A YA Horror novel pitched as “Dexter” meets “The Grudge”, based on a well-loved Japanese ghost story.

The Suffering (The Girl from the Well, #2)

Over the last year I’ve gone against faceless women, disfigured spirits, and grotesque revenants. Some people keep dangerous hobbies; skydiving and driving at monster truck rallies and glacier surfing. Me? I cast my soul into the churning waters of potential damnation and wait for a bite.

It’s been two years since Tark Halloway’s nightmare ended. Free from the evil spirit that haunted him all his life, he now aids the ghostly Okiku and avenges the souls of innocent children by hunting down their murderers. But when Okiku becomes responsible for a death at his high school, Tark begins to wonder if they’re no better than the killers they seek out.
When an old friend disappears in Aokigahara, Japan’s infamous ‘suicide forest’, both must resolve their differences and return to that country of secrets to find her.
Because there is a strange village inside Aokigahara, a village people claim does not exist. A village where strange things lie waiting.
A village with old ghosts and an ancient evil – one that may be stronger than even Okiku…

I am so excited guys. I have officially received my first physical ARC. I started reading it that day! Didn’t get to far but I am dedicating today to reading just this book!!

Not only is this my first ARC but I made an exception to this book. I was so moved by Lene’s story that I had to read her memoir as well.

Lene Fogelberg is dying―she is sure of it―but no doctor in Sweden, her home country, believes her. Love stories enfold her, with her husband, her two precious daughters, her enchanting surroundings, but the question she has carried in her heart since childhood― Will I die young?―is threatening all she holds dear, even her sanity. When her young family moves to the US, an answer, a diagnosis, is finally found: she is in the last stages of a fatal congenital heart disease. But is it too late?
Unflinchingly honest and often harrowing,Beautiful Affliction is an inspiring account of growing up and living on the verge of death―and of the beauty, harshness, loneliness, and, ultimately, unbending love that can be found there.

But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. Finally!!! I have been waiting forever for this book to come in the mail. I’m notbmad though Kim and I are friends. Silly mistake with  the shipping. Anywho…..

What would you do if you discovered that everything you’ve ever known to be your reality was a lie?
What if…
The things that go bump in the night, things you thought were simply a figment of your wild imagination are in fact very real?
Would you live your life differently if you knew you were going to be corrected…erased from this world sometime around your sixteenth birthday?
You and your twin sister were never meant to be born.
There will be no place to run…
No place to hide…
You won’t even know they’re coming…
Do you have what it takes to survive your Correction?
Do you have what it takes to leave your humanity behind?
If your answer is yes then hold on tight…it’s going to be one hell of a ride!

Doesn’t that just sound so intriguing? Kim said that its because of a nightmare that gave birth to her first YA novel. I need to start writing down my dreams because they are scary too.

Thank you so much Kim! I can’t wait to dive into this 524 page monster!!!
