October TBR

Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a fantastic day already. I am not feeling my best but that’s ok I probably need more sleep.

Like I said in my last post September was the best reading month for me this year and I am hoping that I can have just as good if not better month in October.

This month as all of you know hosts one of my favorite holidays, Halloween. Due to me having a huge belly and not being able to walk to much I think I may sit this year out…well if i get to stay home I will be passing out candy for the first time in 8 years. Anyways I digress…..back to the TBR.

So I went through my shelves and kindle to find some of the scariest books or themes I can find. Most of which are for review but here is my line up for October.

This is Novels At Night, my book club, pick this month. I haven’t read any of Clive Barker’s novels but it sounds very intense.

Here is the rest of the books I am going to try and read…

The Bone Witch by [Chupeco, Rin] Loss of Light (The Break Free Series Book 2) by [Fitch, E.M.] Z-MINUS: The Post Apocalyptic Horror Series (Book 1) by [Briar, Perrin] Halfway Dead (Halfway Witchy Book 1) by [Maggert, Terry]

7 book goal this month. Its definitely ambitious of me with everything going on this month but I am going to try my best.

Let me know what books you are reading for this month!

Here are the book’s Goodread’s links if you want to check them out!!

Halfway Dead

Z-Minus 1

Loss of Light

The Bone Witch

The Girl from the Well

The Damnation Game

You’ve Got Mail!

That’s right today I was blessed with two books! I recently read the first book in this trilogy, Break Free The Night, and I really enjoyed it. The author was kind enough to send me the other two in her trilogy.

Loss of Light

Loss of Light by E.M. Fitch

Through the Frozen Dawn

Through the Frozen Dawn by E.M. Fitch

They are written in the same size font as the first book, so they should be rather fast reads. That is if I can get out of this reading slump.

The Fold
The Fold by Peter Clines

The folks in Mike Erikson’s small New England town would say he’s just your average, everyday guy. And that’s exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he’s chosen isn’t much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he’s content with his quiet and peaceful existence.

That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve: far out in the California desert, a team of DARPA scientists has invented a device they affectionately call the Albuquerque Door. Using a cryptic computer equation and magnetic fields to “fold” dimensions, it shrinks distances so that a traveler can travel hundreds of feet with a single step.

The invention promises to make mankind’s dreams of teleportation a reality. And, the scientists insist, traveling through the Door is completely safe.

Yet evidence is mounting that this miraculous machine isn’t quite what it seems—and that its creators are harboring a dangerous secret.

As his investigations draw him deeper into the puzzle, Mike begins to fear there’s only one answer that makes sense. And if he’s right, it may only be a matter of time before the project destroys…everything.

Downburst (The Windstorm Series, #1)

Downburst by Katie Robison

(This one has an awesome giveaway and blog tour coming in June!!)

The Children's Home

The Children’s Home by Charles Lambert ~ Publication Date Jan. 5th, 2016

For fans of Shirley Jackson, Neil Gaiman, Roald Dahl, and Edward Gorey, a beguiling and disarming debut novel from an award-winning British author about a mysterious group of children who appear to a disfigured recluse and his country doctor, and the startling revelations their behavior evokes.

In a sprawling estate, willfully secluded, lives Morgan Fletcher, the disfigured heir to a fortune of mysterious origins. Morgan spends his days in quiet study, avoiding his reflection in mirrors and the lake at the end of his garden. One day, two children, Moira and David, appear. Morgan takes them in, giving them free reign of the mansion he shares with his housekeeper Engel. Then more children begin to show up.

Dr. Crane, the town physician and Morgan’s lone tether to the outside world, is as taken with the children as Morgan, and begins to spend more time in Morgan’s library. But the children behave strangely. They show a prescient understanding of Morgan’s past, and their bizarre discoveries in the mansion attics grow increasingly disturbing. Every day the children seem to disappear into the hidden rooms of the estate, and perhaps, into the hidden corners of Morgan’s mind.

The Children’s Home is a genre-defying, utterly bewitching masterwork, an inversion of modern fairy tales like The Chronicles of Narnia and The Golden Compass, in which children visit faraway lands to accomplish elusive tasks. Lambert writes from the perspective of the visited, weaving elements of psychological suspense, Jamesian stream of consciousness, and neo-gothic horror, to reveal the inescapable effects of abandonment, isolation, and the grotesque – as well as the glimmers of goodness – buried deep within the soul.

Into A Million Pieces by Angela V. Cook ~ Publication date Jan 27, 2015

Allison McKready is a succubus. So is her twin sister. But while Allison spends her summer break hiding in the library behind her Goth makeup, Jade fools around as often as she can. Allison can’t believe Jade would ignore their mother’s fatal example so recklessly, but concealing a cursed bloodline and its dangerous effects is far from Allison’s only problem. Mean girl Julie’s snob mob is determined to ruin her summer, and Aunt Sarah’s Bible thumping is getting louder. Only her new friend, Ren Fisher, offers safe haven from the chaos of her life.

When one of Jade’s risky dates leads to humiliation and sudden tragedy, Allison reels, and Ren catches her. But as her feelings for him grow, so does her fear that she’ll hurt him—or worse—in an unguarded moment. The choice is coming—love him or save him—but Allison might not live to make it. One way or another, the curse will have its due.

Ashley Bell by Dean Koontz ~ Publication Date Dec 8th, 2016

THE MUST-READ THRILLER OF THE YEAR: Featuring the most exhilarating heroine in memory and a sophisticated, endlessly ingenious, brilliantly paced narrative through dark territory and deep mystery, this is a new milestone in literary suspense and a major new breakout book from the long acclaimed master.

At twenty-two, Bibi Blair’s doctors tell her that she’s dying. Two days later, she’s impossibly cured. Fierce, funny, dauntless, she becomes obsessed with the idea that she was spared because she is meant to save someone else. Someone named Ashley Bell. This proves to be a dangerous idea. Searching for Ashley Bell, ricocheting through a southern California landscape that proves strange and malevolent in the extreme, Bibi is plunged into a world of crime and conspiracy, following a trail of mysteries that become more sinister and tangled with every twisting turn.

Unprecedented in scope, infinite in heart, Ashley Bell is a magnificent achievement that will capture lovers of dark psychological suspense, literary thrillers, and modern classics of mystery and adventure. Beautifully written, at once lyrical and as fast as a bullet, here is the most irresistible novel of the decade.

If you are a book blogger, reviewer, or perhaps just a big fan of literature, you should really check out NetGalley. Its one of the best sites I have joined!!!
